The minute that cold weather hits, it’s like there’s a switch that goes off in our house that signifies the grill turning off and the ovens turning on. Our summers are filled with fresh herbs and veggies from the garden, but in the fall our house is filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and sweet treats that the kids and I come up with. My kids are crazy about sweets, but fortunately they are all crazy about baking as well, so we love to experiment together. When they have a favorite dish that they’d prefer to make over and over again it gives us a fun reason to try making it with little twists that set it apart from the time before. In this case, that was lemon bars. And if you’re a fan of lemon, you’re thinking they can’t possibly get any better, right? But today we layered them with white chocolate chips and almonds. So yeah, I’m thinking they did just get a whole lot better. And speaking of better, if you’re trying to limit the amount of sugar you’re consuming this holiday season, you’ll appreciate what we’ve been baking with today!
