Every year, there is this very clear transition from the sunny and warm days of summer to the cool and crisp, rainy and dreary fall days. That transition also signals the beginning of the holiday season and quite possibly one of the best times to love having a kitchen – holiday baking and entertaining. Just as quickly as the weather can change, our minds start to daydream about the hours spent decorating cookies, the laughter from around the table of a holiday meal, and piles of shredded wrapping paper from a morning frenzy of gift opening. It’s magical and delicious and every year we get to do it again!
There is still magic this time of year even as a parent – it’s our job to bring the magic! I don’t the magic is lost, no matter how old you are. As a mom, there’s a whole new meaning to the magic of the holidays so while I’m running around shopping and wrapping, I’m also well aware of the fact that I’ve agreed to host a dinner or bring a fun dish to one. There’s always an opportunity for me to work some magic and show up with both a delicious item AND clean, well-behaved children. A very special kind of holiday magic at play there!
I really enjoy the ability to make something easy but delicious and impressive. Not just impressive to the adults, but when you can impress littles and teenagers, you know you’ve hit the lottery.
With Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets, I can make either a savory appetizer or a simple dessert (maybe even a quick breakfast?) in less than 30 minutes. These savory garlic, cheese, and herb Puff Pastry twists are a simple way to hold off your hunger while you wait for the main course to be ready. If you a cheese lover, you can certainly use more cheese than what the recipe calls for, you can also amp up the garlic and herb and pair these with your favorite Italian dish as a breadstick replacement.
The sweet Puff Pastry twists are hands-down a kid-friendly hit! Whether you drizzle the simple icin on them once plated, or you give a little dish of it for dipping. They are just the right amount of cinnamon, sugar and crunch and I would totally pass them off as a fast breakfast because sometimes, you need a little sweet to start your day off right!
