I’m so excited, I just had to share these cutie new finds I got at the store today! I’ve been meaning to get back into fermenting. Perhaps it’s because of a two week long stint in quarantined as every single person got sick in our family, one after another, that’s made me remember that we should be doing a little more to step up our game.
So I figured it was worth an investment for some cute new gear to get me motivated again. Oh, and I did I mention these were on sale?
Look at that beautiful SCOBY. I wrangled it out of the back of my fridge. It definitely looks like a science experiment, no?
A big issue that I had with fermenting was that our kitchen is teeny tiny and there was no room to hold anything. We are fortunate to have an open layout, but just very little storage space. I’m majorly thankful for our hutch we got from Sauder. It’s versatile enough to hold anything we need. I can switch things around to accommodate the seasonal foods that I’m trying to store. Remember this guy?
Adjustable shelves means that I can store all these goodies now that our cabinets overfloweth with food. I can’t even show you a picture of how crammed they are. Here’s just a little bit of our overflow, nicely organized so that I can find everything!
(Kraut, pickles, salsa, relish, jelly)
My favorite part is the doors at the bottom make the perfect place to stash our foods as we are fermenting them. I’ve got our kombucha stashed underneath. I can also use it to make homemade sauerkraut, beer, and anything else that should be kept out of the light!
