Have you heard of Whole Kids Foundation? Before I get into this post, I want to just gush over them a little bit, because I love their mission,
We support schools and inspire families to improve children’s nutrition and wellness. Given the right opportunities, kids will get excited about fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other nutritious whole foods. [Source]
- Help kids learn to love fresh, nutritious, whole foods
- Increase access to and consumption of these foods in schools
- Inspire families to prepare and share these foods at home
- Encourage community action that supports healthier kids
- Create support tools for educators, who play a vital role in modeling and teaching healthy choices
- End the childhood obesity epidemic
I’m super excited to work with RocktheLunchbox.com, who supports this great cause. Read on to see what they’re all about and don’t forget to check out the giveaway at the end!
The #rockthelunchbox challenge is simple: Your little sweeties draw a picture of their dream lunch then you healthify it. The website has over 300 ideas for ways that you can pack your lunches with nutritious and delicious options. I love this idea because it really helps your kids to have a say in what they’re eating, and this hands on approach will help empower them to make better choices.
So I asked four year old to draw her idea of an ideal lunch. It consisted of salmon, gluten free macaroni and cheese, and apples with peanut butter.
Umm.. I think she passed the challenge, because that’s pretty darn healthy to me!
One lucky reader will win one Rock The Lunchbox prize pack full of goodies to help you make your child’s lunchbox rock! Including a lunchbox, coupons to the kinds of brands that you actually want your kids to eat (like Annie’s Homegrown, Applegate Organic & Natural Meals, Organic Valley, Rudi’s Organic Bakery and Stonyfield)
I’m making this one SUPER easy: all you have to do is follow Homegrown & Healthy on Pinterest. I created a new board all about eating healthy lunches that you won’t want to miss! You have until September 15 to enter, then I’ll email the winner who will have 48 hours to respond.
I am proud to disclose my relationship between my blog and Annie’s Homegrown. This could include Annie’s providing me with content, product, access or other forms of payment.
