Every time I’m at the shopping centre, I enjoy walking past the bakeries. I enjoy looking at (and drooling over) the pastries, breads, tarts and pies that are sitting in the glass windows that are just waiting to be devoured. My favorite types of breads are the ones that have some sort of filling. For the savory breads, cheese and chives and sweet chili and cheese are my favorite fillings. When it comes to the sweet, the custard and almond rolls are my favorite – along with the raspberry pull apart tea cake. Oh man. Our local bakery sells this amazing raspberry-filled pull apart cake and it leaves me drooling every time I see it.
That got me thinking… maybe I could replicate that recipe? That way I can make my own raspberry-filled bread right in my very own kitchen, and the cravings could be satisfied without even having to leave my house.
So I scoured the interet for different recipes and consulted recipe books, and this is the combined result! Moist, sticky and sweet raspberry rolls. Perfect when they’re hot, these hit the spot for when you’re craving something sweet. They’re perfect on their own and don’t need a scoop of icecream or cream alongside it, although you could pour custard over your roll if you wanted to. I just scab mine down as they are because I think they’re perfect on their own.
