Sometimes it seems unreal just how long this blog has been around for! Somehow, at the moment, we’re smack dab in the middle of 2016 (seriously, where did the first half go?), but this blog was started back in 2011. So sometimes for fun I go through our archives and remember posts that I forgot even existed.
Once upon a time, back in 2013, a sweet blogging friend shared this recipe with us for Twisted Parmesan Breadsticks, and they’ve been on my mind ever since!
Today we got to play around with the new Homestyle Sauces from Ragu. Of course, I assume at this point all of my readers are already familiar with Ragu, right? Their sauces are made with no artificial flavors or colors and they have no high fructose corn syrup, which makes them a win in our house! My kids would literally eat spaghetti every night, so I’m always looking for quick and easy ways to make mealtime fun without going absolutely insane trying to juggle a hundred different things at one time.
I know that these days I absolutely don’t have time to make my own sauce, so I like having go-to brands that I can trust to do that work for me!
This is our boldest flavor yet because we peel, chop and simmer our ingredients and use a special blend of herbs (basil, fennel, oregano and black pepper) to layer and build the flavor. You don’t take short cuts when you make your own sauce–neither do we. That’s why we take the time to make sure the sauce is made right.
So our dinner tonight was super simple! Angel hair pasta with sauce, a little bit of fresh oregano and black olives for mama. The kids don’t care for them, but black olives are my favorite! So to spruce up dinner I decided to break out that old recipe and give it a fun, modern twist.
Anyone in the mood for some crunchy breadsticks, laced with himalayan pink salt, fresh oregano and black olives? Yeah, me too! They’re a cinch to whip up and pair so well with this thick, hearty sauce.
Are you ready to give it a try? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
