I’m just going to start this post off by saying: don’t get mad at me.
Look, I know it’s not even Halloween yet. I adore watching the kids get all dressed up, the whimsical food, the haunted houses. And then comes Thanksgiving, where I get to spend the day with my amazing in-laws and eat food prepared from amazing cooks and drink wine. We also have my husband’s birthday and my own to look forward to.
I love all of these things, okay? So don’t think I’m rushing ahead of Christmas, because I’m not. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let me just get this off of my chest: I started Christmas shopping about a month ago.
I’m not doing it to rush ahead, I just like to stay on top of gifts and purchase them a little at a time.
Buying ahead of time gives me time to prepare: I like having extra time to read reviews, get recommendations and watch videos shared and created by fellow shoppers to help me make an informed decision before I buy.
Being prepared also helps me save money: Did you know that when you’re shopping online, prices can drop up to 30% on an item in a week? So I like to find things ahead of time and keep an eye on the price so I can purchase them at their lowest. I came across this Shopswell site that really helps with those two factors.
Shopswell is kind of like Pinterest, but it’s solely for shopping. If you’ve ever clicked on a cool product from your Pinterest feed, only to be disappointed when you’re not able to buy it or even find that product on the link that opens, you’ll love knowing that Shopswell only features products available for sale and even shows you the current price! Shopswell allows you to use the search category and add items to your very own curated list. You can even browse what other people are adding to their lists– it’s kind of like a little online shopping community in that way. I put one together highlighting some of my favorite farm-inspired finds. Obviously I can’t share with you my lists of things I’m buying people, my family reads this blog occasionally 😉
A few of my favorite items include:
One of the cool things is that after you come up with your list you can click on the button says “Show Similar Items” and it’ll curate another list for you of items that it thinks you’d like. Here’s a few of the items that it came up with for me. I really. really. love that giraffe pillow on the right! (It recommended dozens and dozens of items, I ended up having to expand my list quite a bit after looking through all of them.)
Curating lists is a great way to shop for other people or even to come up with your OWN wishlist to send to your family. I know my family members always appreciate it when I can give them suggestions about what we want.
But check out this feature, which is easily the coolest part about it– you frugal mamas are going to LOVE this tracking tool! It tells you latest prices, lowest prices and highest prices so you know that you’re not getting ripped off. When you click the purple “Track It” button you can set it so that Shopswell will automatically inform you when it hits a certain point, when you buy it.
If you’re interested in a site like this, now is the time to check them out because each month Shopswell is having a $10,000 giveaway through their Shop.Share.Win. Program! There are loads of ways that you can earn points that count towards entries, you can see all of the rules here: How to Play (& Earn Money).
