I sit here this morning with a cup of bitter, strong coffee in my hand, debating which words to use to introduce this post. Should I sugarcoat it and tell you all how much I missed you? Or be honest and say that I really, really enjoyed my [mostly] technology-free week? Let’s go with something in the middle. I missed you all but lord, I needed that break!
Did you all enjoy your holidys? Did you get everything you needed and were you able to give great, meaningful gifts? Have you finally figured out the keys to dealing with friends and family members without losing your sanity? Were you able to eat in moderation and get plenty of water and rest?
I know, me too.
I was planning on telling you all about my homemade Christmas gifts but I didn’t capture many pictures of my creations. I think that there are times, no matter how momentous, where we need to view the world as it is and not through a lens. Coco is now two and a half and so this is the first Christmas that she was really aware of what was going on. When was the last time you experienced Christmas through the eyes of a toddler? I recommend trying it. Soon.
Anyway, next week I’ll try to capture my models in their new gifts and share with you pictures, instructions and tutorials of things that I made. Spoiler alert: Some of them are really, really cute.
We had another special Christmas surprise: snow! (If you’re an oldies-movie nut like me, imagine that sung in harmony, the train scene from White Christmas style: Snooow-snooow-snooow) It was only enough to cover the ground but the girls enjoyed the past several days of sledding, something they never got to do at the beach. They slid, rolled, bounced, and flopped around in the cold without any complaints. Considering that me and my husband met a decade ago snowboarding it seems only appropriate that they share an appreciation for the snow and mountains.

So welcome back, and now it’s business as usual!
