Homemade toothpaste

For the past couple of weeks, since I’ve ordered my Peppermint Essential Oil (to chase away the pesky mice. Don’t ask.), the smell has been lingering throughout the house and makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.  I feel like Christmas is here!  Yay!

I love all things peppermint!

The smell also got my mind a churnin’… “This stuff smells a lot like it does when I brush my teeth.  I KNOW!!  How about I try making a toothpaste!?  It can’t be too complex to make on my own.”

So, ladies and gentleman, I give to you…

BAM!

My very own toothpaste concoction:

Homemade toothpaste

Ingredients
  • ½ cup of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda
  • a few drops of peppermint essential oil
  • a jar to dip your toothbrush into (I used a thin, squeezable bottle that I had stored in the bathroom cupboard.)

Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients in jar.
  2. That’s it!

Anna About Anna

Hi, I’m Anna! I am 29 years old and a practicing Catholic stay-at-home mother of 2 young boys (and a daughter that was lost in utero) and a wife of 4 years. I attend American Public University, where I am working towards a degree in Pharmacology and plan to finish up at the University of Missoula Montana. I enjoy crafting, chatting and spending quality time with my family. I really enjoy learning about homeopathy and herbalism which I hope to someday understand fully so that I can keep my family healthy “the natural way”. Most of all, I love my family and enjoy being a mother and wife. "Wouldn’t change it for the world!"
