This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Fisher-Price. All opinions are 100% mine.
I remember the excitement that came with each pregnancy when it came to getting a nursery ready. With each subsequent child our needs changed and our opinion of what the perfect registry was differed each time. It’s fun though, right? Planning what this little stranger will be needing, someone who hasn’t even been born yet?
Even as a minimalist, I’m not gonna lie: Going around and picking out items for the soon-to-be-person was fun. You can create registries online or in person, they’re super easy to tweak and can be updated any time.
Want to win your registry?
While we’re on the topic of registries: Fisher-Price is a brand moms know and trust, offering a variety of items ranging from great baby gear to learning toys. When you add $200 or more in Fisher-Price® items to your Babies“R”Us registry between now and 5/12/15 and be automatically entered into the sweepstakes. The winner will receive their entire registry for FREE, up to $3500 in value!
What should you fill your registry with? Of course I recommend the basics like diapers and bath essentials.
I loved our Fisher-Price® Smart Connect™ 4-in-1 Cradle ‘n Swing because it offered so much flexibility, and the Rose Chandelier Deluxe Bouncer was kind of a lifesaver when I was working in the garden.
But remember, you can think outside the box! I say have fun with your registry and while you’re at it, why not add some great items that baby can enjoy for months (and years) to come?
What Kinds of Toys Enhance Cognitive Development?
I’m a big advocate for learning through play, and there are toys that are great for cognitive development. Solid, simple toys are consistently shown to be the best for children’s development. Here are some ideas to help you get started!
Dominos are excellent for teaching and reinforcing math skills. Setting them up carefully and then knocking them down at a prescribed moment enhances fine motor coordination.
Basic wooden toys – also known as “folk toys” – are gaining popularity and are widely available at Babies“R”Us! The options are limitless and there are things great for little hands, like wooden trains, airplanes, marble chutes, trucks, and cars.
Dress up play may be a little advanced for a newborn, but before long your little one will be walking and talking. Costumes and play scarves are a great opportunity to let your children create their own world of make-believe.
