Halloween Candy- From Scratch

Oh yeah, I’m going there. How to make your own Halloween candy from scratch.

Even though I am a big fan of cooking from scratch and making healthy alternatives, even I am not enough of a health nut to offer to my homemade treats to every random kid on the block. It takes too much time and is costly. Plus most of the neighbors would throw my hard work away, thinking I laced it.

I am, however, enough of a health nut to make sure that my kids get as many healthy replacements as possible.

Plus, it’s a good way to impress teachers, neighbors, in-laws, etc.

Aubrey About Aubrey

My name is Aubrey and I am a proud wife and mother to two little girls. The combination of buying our home (as in, we have our own yard!) and our newest baby (as in, homemade baby food!) created a catalyst that provoked my interest in gardening. In researching this hobby I came across information that really made me question mainstream food. The chemicals and preservatives alone made the mother in me cringe, not to mention what the chef in me thought about the difference in taste. Please join me and my family as we discover recipes and explore the outdoors in our attempt to reconnect with nature.

Let me know if you have any luck! I did the Tootsie Roll one but used almond butter in place of sunbutter. The texture wasn’t tootsie-rolly but it tasted fantastic :D

  2. Are you handing any of these out? I can’t resist making the maple and nut butter ones! They look so good.

    • Since we’ll be out trick or treating ourselves we don’t hand out candy. I plan on making these for ourselves and our friends, but not for the neighborhood. I really want to try the Butterfinger replacements, those are my daughter’s favorites!
