Between the months of Halloween and New Years, our criteria for what constitutes healthy, appropriate snacks gets a little skewed. It’s not that we encourage eating candy and sweets, but they’re so plentiful and offered so often that it’s easy to let your guard down.
But now it’s January, a time for contemplating better choices and getting back on track. Holidays are crazy for sweets, and Cuties are a sweet alternative that won’t leave you feeling guilty. This month, swap sweets for Cuties as part of a healthier snacking initiative! I think most kids have one thing in common: they LOVE fruit, right? Cuties is encouraging families to swap sweets for fresh fruit to satisfy those inevitable candy cravings. And no fruit is as handy for “I Want Candy!” than sweet-as-candy Cuties. I keep a bowl of fresh fruit right on our dining room table so the kids have access to it whenever they want. Even the 1 year old knows how to take the little Cutie from the bowl and peel it himself– they’re the perfect portions for little fingers and a great way to satisfy a little sweet craving without feeling guilty.
In addition to snacking on these guys the way they are, I pulled a few of my favorite recipes from around the Internet. These are creative ways to enjoy a little something sweet without any of the guilt! To check them out, click on the picture or the caption to see the original post with recipe.
Right now you can pledge to join the sweet-swapping movement by simply downloading the “I Want Cuties” song (a play on the classic 80s tune “I Want Candy”) as a way to make the switch from candy to fruit even more fun.
