Grounding

Use electronics? You probably recharge your cell phone sometimes. You NEED to recharge your body — and it’s FREE! The energy is all around us. You just need to plug in!

Ever notice how restored you feel after walking barefoot on the beach? Feel revitalized after strolling across a meadow? Planet Earth, like every living entity, has a subtle energy field. Dr. Gaetan Chevalier and Dr. James Oschman have written extensive scientific research papers documenting the facts.

Alternatively, you can spend time earthing yourself, or grounding, by paying attention to your feet or using one of several techniques.

One way to ground

is to stand barefoot, feet about hip width apart, hands at your side with your eyes closed. Take a few moments to breathe naturally and simply notice your breath. Then begin to focus on your feet.

Notice if your weight is evenly distributed.

Notice how much of each foot is connecting with the floor. Can you feel the ball of your foot on the floor? Spend 3-5 minutes doing this (set a timer so you can bliss out) and you’ll likely feel energized.

Another way to ground

is to literally sit on the ground. Best if you can do this outside, but even inside will be helpful.Your back should be supported and you should sit straight so that you can breathe easily and deeply.

As you breathe, imagine the energy moving up your spine and out the crown of your head. As you exhale, notice the breath move down your spine, through your sit bones and down into the earth.

This connects you to heaven and earth.

A third technique

is to sit comfortably and cradle your right foot in your hands. Close your eyes, breathe easily and feel energy. When it feels right, slowly begin to move your hands away from your foot. Notice if you can continue to feel the energy expanding around your foot. Repeat with your left foot.

  1. I’m super glad I finally got behind a computer to read this entire thing. I have been doing so much research on this and have recently started going outside WAY more. Now it’s getting super cold. How are we supposed to get the same affect if it’s so cold you can’t go out without shoes on?? Love this!!

Katie, great question! The first and third techniques I wrote about can be done inside where it’s warm ;-)

Yoga and meditation are also great ways to ground. They won’t flood your body with negative ions like walking at the beach will, but they will surely ground you.

For some people, eating root vegetables in the wintertime can be grounding: potatoes, beets, turnips…I wouldn’t do too many carrots – although they grow beneath the ground they are high sugar and that can make some people spacey or “amped up.”

A nice Epsom salt bath is also a great way to rid the body of toxins on many levels. Some people like to add a dash of lavendar oil or frankincense or other favorite.

Let me know how it goes!
