My blogging friends and I often compare our experiences of trying to balance work life with our domestic duties. We’re often asking each other, “How do you balance both?” only to hear the unfortunate answer of, “I don’t!”. So when Gold Peak Coffee asked us to share our experiences with their products, I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you all how I try to stay on top of things (spoiler alert: a nice, hot cup of coffee has a lot to do with it!). As always, all opinions are my own.
For most of us it’s hard to stay organized, both at home at for our work. So today I’m gonna share with you some of my ideas, my go-to tools for staying on top of things, and a list of free resources to help you out as well.
First off, escape!
Not really. Well, yes.. really. While I love being home with my honeys, it is so so so important for me to have child-free, distraction-free time to sit down and work. I find that when I can get out of the house for just an hour or two I can accomplish more than I can the entire day trying to work from home.
Sit down with a nice, hot cup of coffee. If you didn’t know already, Georgia Coffee is now Gold Peak Coffee and it’s available at new markets all over the place. I find that a quiet restaurant with a cup of coffee = maximum comfort, minimum distractions! Gold Peak Coffee embodies warmth; it’s a comforting, warm way to start the day or end a meal. It connects you with the simple comforts of home without the kids tugging on your legs!
Secondly, have a plan!
Before you even leave the house, jot down a quick to-do list.
To make your list most effect, make sure that you have actions written down. For example, “respond to email conversations” works better than simply writing “email”.
Without a great to-do there’s a good possibility that you’ll spend your time sipping coffee and basking in the quiet that surrounds you rather than actually getting any work done!
Third, get organized!
There are so many great resources out there to help you get organized, here’s a few that stood out to me, and best of all, they’re all free!
