Cinnamon scrolls, strawberry scrolls – any type of scrolls, really – are just plain wonderful, are they not? The bready scroll, the sweet or tart filling and a glaze on top all combine together beautifully, making a wonderful breakfast, midmorning snack or even a complete meal in itself if you wish.
For me, there’s just one slight problem when making scrolls of this type: the time-consuming process of making the dough. The time needed for the dough to rise, the kneading that needs to take place… So as a result, this has often put me off making scrolls.
However, this ‘easy strawberry roll’ recipe caught my eye. You see, these rolls are made with puff pastry. Puff pastry means immediate rolls and no waiting time! Perfection.
These rolls are sweet, sticky and are not for the fainthearted. The vanilla glaze on top seeps into the rolls, taking its sweet taste of vanilla along with it. Cinnamon and strawberry are an unlikely combination too, but you won’t turn back once you’ve tried these rolls. They really are just plain good.
