This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of DohVinci for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
Anyone who knows me and my introverted nature may find it funny how my kids are total and absolute hams. They love acting, performing, making music– anything that involves an audience and they will be there, with bells and whistles.
This morning the weather was beautiful and me and Colette wanted to have some rock-star fun. We played around with Kool-Aid hair dye– it was the messiest adventure ever, a total disaster, but the end result was really cute.
And while we were entertaining ourselves with that, Luke decided to start his own craft project. It’s called “color your bellybutton”.
And here he is, showing me his pink marker. Just look at that face!
Are your kids into this stuff too? My theatrical children love watching their favorite actors on TV and already have claimed tomorrow as their day to watch the Kids’ Choice Awards. It’s an interactive show where you can vote for your favorite actors and actresses (including cartoon characters), they have great musical guests and just like they did when we were kids, they do a lot of sliming.
It’ll be on air March 28th at 8/7c! In honor of the union between DohVinci and the 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards we did a little craft project. DIY music makers! Perfect for the little (and big) performers in your life.
There’s two parts to this craft: using materials you have lying around your house to create little music makers and then setting your kids loose to decorate them.
You’ll need:
- Tin can- If you use the kind that have the pull tabs then you don’t have to worry about any jagged edges
- Balloon
- Rubberband
- Scissors
- Something to rattle in the cans
Fill your tin cans with anything that makes noise. We used dried garbanzo beans and lentils. (Side note: I love letting the kids pick different things to fill the cans with so we can hear the different noises they’ll make. Get creative!)
Cut the tips off of your balloons.
Stretch them over your cans and secure with a rubber band.
To decorate we used the DohVinci Color Mixer by Hasbro: a set of tools that allows users to create innovative 3D artwork of their own design! One of the first of it’s kind, DohVinci turns Play-Doh into a whole new 3D experience- helping you making art in a whole new dimension. Not to mention it doesn’t cause a huge mess like most of the other projects that we create!
Just mix the colors:
And then you’re free to decorate!
Do you have crafty kids too? Let them know they can enter their unique works of art in a contest to be featured in an on-air spot on the night of KCA! Follow KCA Facebook or Nickelodeon Twitter to stay up to date.
