My friends over at MightyNest and I have put together an amazing package to help you savor the summer with some of the fun gear that you’ll see discussed in this post. The Savor the Summer Challenge is all about enjoying the fruits of the season and making memories.
To enter, simply pledge to — you guessed it — savor summer. Every entry earns points for your school and a chance to win the giveaway. It’s an easy and fun way to do something good for your family and good for your schools! No purchase is necessary, and the school with the most points at the end of June will win $500!
A bit about the MightyNest for Schools fundraising program: helping you pack fresh lunches, waste less, and get your kids excited about eating healthy food. What’s unique about MightyNest for Schools is that they encourage healthy living at your school alongside raising funds. The program engages your school community in healthy, mindful living, with information, challenges, and giveaways. Plus when you make purchases (like safe, durable, eco-friendly lunch bags, reusable containers, and water bottles – all things you need for packing fresh, healthy lunches from home anyway) on mightynest.com, your school earns 15% of the sales!
Have you heard the great news? School’s out!
A few days ago my daughter finished her first year of middle school. Since then our days have been crazy busy: we try to squeeze in as many things as we can to keep the children entertained and really savor this seemingly short time that we have to all spend together as a family.
Lawn parties, barbecues, parades.
We’ve been able to finally enjoy our first outdoor movie night. Pillows and blankets against the cool ground, the stars overhead. Lots of snuggling.
Have you ever done this before? Our technique may not be fancy but it sure is fun. You can buy an inexpensive projector that’ll play DVD’s, hang up a few white curtains, sheets or a tablecloth, and that’s literally all you need.
Er.. well.. not exactly. You also need milkshakes and popcorn.
EcoJarz come with lids to prevent spills and stainless steel straws. We just happen to use Mason Jars for everything, so they are pretty perfect. My kids refuse to drink milkshakes out of anything else now.
Making popcorn with the kids using one of these stainless steel popcorn makers (we got ours from Mighty Nest) is something my girls really look forward to. It’s a fun way to get the kids involved in the kitchen and for families like us that don’t have microwaves, it’s actually a necessity.
And to make your popcorn even better, toss it with this homemade butterscotch sauce. Trust me. And if you haven’t yet, check out our new YouTube channel and see the video tutorial that shows you step-by-step how to create this tasty treat yourself!
