Personally, I love it, but it’s put a damper on a lot of our summer activities. We’ve been relying more on crafts lately to fill our time. My four year old daughter has it in her mind that if we’re doing art, it’s got to be a masterpiece every time. She wants things that are elaborate. She wants art that she can see, feel, smell and taste.
I like things that we can put together using what we already have in our house.
Cue these adorable butterfly prints. They’re easy to put together with just a few things that you may already have around your house: starch, powdered drink mix (I got a whole package of these for less than a dollar), wax paper (or something nonsticky) and regular paper.
The end result is something that’s pleasing to the senses– of course it looks great, but it also smells good and has a bit of texture, too! We got this idea from Housing a Forest when she made Kool-Aid Pumpkins using starch and Kool-Aid. Click over to read her full post, they came out adorable! You can also follow Faultless on Facebook to see more ways to use their products. First, lay out your wax paper and spray with Starch.
I used Faultless Premium Starch, which can be found in the laundry aisle of most retail stores; find a store near you that carries it. Unlike other starch, the Faultless Premium bottle won’t clog, flake or stick. Since 1887, Faultless has been by the ironing board’s side – there to help make people feel good about how they dress. Faultless Premium is the perfect solution to help rid yourself of the “Wrinkle Blues.”
If you’re big on saving money (and who isn’t?) you can download a Faultless Premium Coupon, plus scroll down to the end of the tutorial to see how you can win a year’s supply! Then, sprinkle on the powder. Place your paper over it and rub it in. Then lift to reveal! Don’t you just love the texture? This is one of those art projects that really uses all of your senses. You can even smell the drink mix! Next, all you need to do is trace a silhouette and cut it out. I used this graphic that I found on Google but there’s no shortage of options. Just cut it out and glue it down onto a clean sheet. Voila! It’s a simple, fun project that ends up being cute and classy enough to display anywhere in your house.
