I believe that I’ve shared a time or two my love of everything Buffalo. That combination of flavors: spicy, tangy, vinegary and buttery all at the same time. I’ve been meaning to share on here how we make our Buffalo Sauce from scratch– it’s ridiculously easy and takes all of 5 minutes (spoiler alert: it’s your favorite hot sauce + butter) and barely any leg work.
Don’t even get me started on the dipping sauces. Sure, blue cheese is traditional but why not mix it up with a little feta and dill? It’s got a rich smoothness to it, the sharp feta mellowed by creamy dill.
I mean truly, what’s not to love?
Our family is very much focused on a plant based diet. Sure, we dabble in eating meat from time to time (deer is one of our favorites) and frequently consume bone broth, but we really take it easy on the meat. We do it for the health benefits. I know that many of my friends have had good results in other ways of eating but my husband and I are always drawn back to a plant based diet.
I’m not saying you should make the switch (after all, everyone knows their own bodies!) but here’s a little food for thought:
If every American went meatless 1 day a week it would be the equivalent of ½ million cars taken off the road each year.
Over the years that we’ve maintained this lifestyle I’ve really only had one food that I’ve missed. Tangy Buffalo sauce, baby.
I decided to try out some of my favorite sauces with the gardein™ Seven Grain Crispy Tenders. Gardein (garden + protein = gardein) is a delicious and sustainable plant protein that provides the taste, texture and nutrition of meat but with less fat, less calories and no cholesterol. This was new territory for me but I was totally in love with this dish and these crispy little guys!
The meal comes together in minutes. While you bake your Crispy Tenders you can mix up your sauces, then–I don’t know, sit down for a bit and catch up on your favorite blog, perhaps?
