Interesting fact:
6,064,326 people “like” Mountain Dew on Facebook.
What does that say to you? To me it speaks of a culture that has been so manipulated by the media that it’s actually trendy right now to consume foods and beverages that are literally killing our bodies.
They have:
Carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, concentrated orange juice and other natural flavors, citric acid, sodium benzoate, caffeine, sodium citrate, gum arabic, erythorbic acid, calcium disodium EDTA and brominated vegetable oil, yellow 5.
It is cool to drink Mountain Dew. It is not cool to make your own soda for your children. It is not “cool” to provide them the opportunity to experience a wide variety of foods, respect for the diets of other cultures, to develop their palettes, to teach them good habits that will stay with them the rest of their lives.
Now truly, I have nothing against Mountain Dew in particular, they are just one example. And no, drinking a Mountain Dew is not going to kill you. Constantly consuming preservatives, dyes, chemicals, and artificial flavors will put your body (and spirit) in danger of a range of diseases and problems.
My soda has:
Grapes, soda water.
I feel like we have an obligation to our families to adopt a higher respect for the foods that we consume. Without adopting a program where you are mostly consuming fresh, local food then that would be impossible. Not only should we accept these practices but we need to help each other and share our experiences and ideas with each other.
We can set an example for other people around us and get the word out that the trend is shifting, and that we need to change.
