A common topic on this site is me talking about getting back into my healthy groove after life with three kids. I’m still working on trying to find the right balance of exercise and diet to get me looking and feeling like my old self again.
It’s been tough. But you know that, right? How many of you are struggling with being tired, achey, overweight? If it was easy then the weight loss industry wouldn’t be making millions (billions?) of dollars off of us!
This past month I really decided to stick to it, and I did a few things to help me stay focused and on track. I’m gonna share a few of them here, feel free to chime in and leave a comment with your own tips as well.
1. I started taking fun fitness classes.
I know some of you are like “but I’m not coordinated!”, or you’re worried about being embarrassed. Whatever is holding you back, finding a fun way to exercise will keep you motivated. I do Zumba and Kickboxing regularly and have even tried Barre, Kettlebell, and Piyo just to see if they tickle my fancy.
2. I got a fitness tracker.
I invested in a FitBit to track my steps. Since I spend a lot of time in front of the computer I’ve found the extra accountability really helpful. They recommend 10k steps a day, and when I don’t actively find something to get me moving I’m only getting about 3k.. wow, right? My FitBit is get gentle reminder to walk to get the mail, pace the playground instead of sitting, and park further back in the parking lot.
I also got some apps that work with my FitBit where I actually get rewarded (or penalized!) for my activity levels. I’ll share all about them in another post.
3. I took the Cheribundi Tart Cherry Juice 7-Day Challenge
I’m not a big juice drinker, but I do enjoy a slightly tart beverage every once in a while. Cranberry juice was my preference, until I was introduced to the Cheribundi Cherry Juice Challenge. You can read all about it on their site, but here’s a little bit about it.
Cherries are a superfood (you knew that, right?) packed with phytonutrients, melatonin and essential vitamins AND tart cherries ranked 14 in the top 50 foods for highest antioxidant content per serving size. Drinking one little bottle of cherry juice for 7 days straight:
- Improves Sleep Quality
- Reduces Exercise-induced Oxidative stress
- Helps Promote Healthy Inflammation Response
- The Ultimate Antioxidant
If you want to try out the challenge for yourself you can go to the Cheribundi sign up page and they’ll send you coupons and information to get you started.
In the meantime, leave me a comment with your favorite ways to get into the fitness groove!
