Even as an adult I often suffer from acne breakouts. Sometimes they are caused by stress or hormones or just arrive at the worst possible times. However I hate to use harsh chemicals on my face and I am sensitive to many things. That is why I have researched a few alternatives that I can use no matter when my breakouts occur. Here are five treatments you can do with things you probably already have:
Lemons are a great treatment for acne because they help to dry it up and the acid also kills bacteria. Just dab a few drops of fresh lemon juice on your spots with a cotton swab. Or you can apply it to a large area and let it sit for ten minutes before rinsing off. Do not use this treatment too often as it can cause your skin to dry out and break out even more.
Honey is a great natural antiseptic and also helps to pull the pimples out of your skin. Apply like a mask to problem areas. Let dry and then gently wash off. As it dries the honey wil pull out impurities and leave your face feeling smooth.
Tea Tree Oil
This essential oil is great for removing toxins and redness. You can find it in nearly every vitamin store and even some grocery stores. Just dab a few drops on the problem areas and let sit overnight. Do not use more than a few drops because it is highly concentrated.
The live bacteria in plain yogurt can help your skin stay clear. Apply the yourgt in a thick layer to the acne and let it dry for ten to fifteen minutes. For bad spots you can cover with a bandage and let it sit overnight. The bacteria in the yogurt help to clear out your pores and remove dead skin.
Last but not least is the garden favorite. Used for just about everything medicinal, aloe can also help acne. Cut off the spines and use the inside of a leaf to apply directly to the acne. Let it sit for a few minutes or overnight. Aloe reduces redness and promotes healing and works great on dry or chapped skin.
If you are looking for immediate results then try ice. Applying ice to the ace can reduce swelling and redness for a few hours. Although it does not solve the issue it does make it less visible for special occasions or pictures.
